Meet Ashley Caines
Certified Postpartum Doula

Welcome! I am Ashley Caines of Lily and Oak Postpartum Support.
Born and raised in Saskatoon, SK, I then spent 7 years in BC before moving to Stony Plain in 2020.
I have 2 kids, both who inspired me to choose this career path. After having my son in 2017, I struggled with new parenthood and Postpartum Anxiety. Two years later, my daughter was born, which was a whole new world trying to navigate a toddler and a new baby.
My passion lies with families. Postpartum is one of the most vulnerable, yet under-supported times in a person's life. At some point along the way our villages have disappeared. Life has gotten busier and people seem to have less time to support each other. My goal as a Postpartum Doula is to be your village - to make you feel empowered, confident, supported and cared for.
When I'm not supporting families, I am most likely deep into a good book, spending time outside with my partner and kids, or hunting for unique vintage finds.

What does a Postpartum Doula do?
A Postpartum Doula is a non-medical support person with professional insight and abilities on infant care and development, as well as physical healing and emotional adjustment

Emotional Support
A non judgmental ear. Let me fetch you a cup of tea and then tell me your birth story. Tell me about your struggles and triumphs. I am here to actively listen without judgment.
As a client you will have access to my lending library! This includes books on pregnancy, birth and postpartum
Physical Support
Physical support helps aid in the transition. Support is tailored to fit each family's needs. This can include:
*Breast and bottle feeding support
*Preparing light meals and snacks
*Light household cleaning and laundry
*Infant care (bathing, sleep, feeding, diaper changes etc)
*Sibling care
*Keeping the birthing person comfortable and nourished to aid the healing process
Informational Support
Education on postpartum topics such as infant sleep, pelvic floor tips, infant soothing techniques, mental health, newborn care and more.
If it is beyond my scope, I will refer you to a professional who specializes in that area.
